BUMP BUDDIES
St Annes Church, 37 Hemsworth Street, London N1 5LF
A free service for women in Hackney who are pregnant or have children under school age. Help includes support at antenatal classes, breastfeeding, how to access low cost and free baby equipment and clothing, and details of local children’s groups.
You can be referred or refer yourself by filling in a form online or call 020 7033 8524 or drop in for a weekly coffee morning (Wednesday, 10am-11.45am)

Run by volunteers, this website lists free items offered by local residents. Just sign up and if you are interested in a particular item contact the person offering it. You can also ask for things.

You need to register and then you can browse furniture and a huge range of other local goods which are for sale.

HACKNEY CHILDREN AND BABY BANK
Offers families in need essential items such as nappies, buggies, clothes, shoes, toys, books and baby equipment for children aged 0-12.
If you need help with any of these items, talk to your midwife, family support worker, health visitor, food bank, social worker, or Children’s Centre, and ask them to refer you by emailing gethelp@hackneybabybank.com

Free clothing for adults and children, including children’s books and toys. You can apply online or contact a professional who can refer you, such as a social worker, health visitor, midwife. New community shop just opened at The CoHub, New Kingshold Community Centre E9 7LP

HACKNEY COUNCIL
Here to Help – help for residents with financial or benefit problems. Support offered includes benefits advice; discretionary grants for home goods when moving into a new property; cost of removals/moving costs. To receive support from the service you need to fill out (yourself or with help from a support worker) an online form. If you are unable to apply online call 0208 356 3111 or visit the Hackney Service Centre 1 Hillman Street E8 1DY where you will be helped to complete the form.

Support for vulnerable families with baby clothes and equipment for newborns.
Open Thurs 10.00-14.00 in term-time.

LITTLE VILLAGE
Provides clothes, nappies, bedding, equipment and toys for babies and children up to the age of 5.
To receive help, you will need to be referred by a professional, such as a midwife, health visitor, foodbank or children’s centre.

Mainly office furniture (desks, tables and chairs, but also fridges, TVs, microwaves, etc).
Reasonable prices, wide range, and will deliver.

SMARTWORKS
Offers free interview-appropriate clothing and interview preparation support to women who are unemployed or on a zero-hours contract. Works on a referral basis – you can be referred by job centres, mental health charities, women’s refuges, homeless shelters, the prison service, care service and youth organisations. The nearest centre is in Islington.
