Can for a Can for Hackney Foodbank
A craft brewery in East London is celebrating the arrival of new canning equipment and hosting a big fundraiser for Hackney Foodbank.
On Saturday April 26, The Great Beyond Brewing Company, is hosting a launch party at its Hoxton taproom and donating £1 from the sale of its two bestsellers (Hoxton Lager and Hoxton Fresh) to the food bank.
Guests are also invited to bring tins of food for the charity and receive a free can of beer in exchange (up to four cans per person, while stocks last). The event takes place from 1pm till 11pm at 417 Union Walk, E2 8HP.
John Driebergen, who runs Great Beyond, with Nick Walsh and Ollie Parker, said: “We’ve been thinking hard about how to support people locally in a way that’s simple, direct, and high impact. Partnering with Hackney Foodbank just made sense. Practical and rooted in the community we’re proud to be a part of.”
Staff and volunteers from the food bank will be at the event, collecting food donations and chatting to the public.
Hackney Foodbank is currently providing emergency food for an average of 750 people per week – a 20% increase on last year. The charity also has a small team of caseworkers who help visitors on to better situations.
