Pip and Nut lead the way for hunger-relief in Hackney

In six years of supporting Hackney Foodbank Pip and Nut have donated more than 150,000 jars of nut butter.

The Shoreditch-based company, which is set up as a B-Corp, also donated £12,000 a few years ago to help the charity keep its vans on the road.

Head of Fundraising at Hackney Foodbank, Jenna Fansa, said: “Such has been the support from Pip and Nut that almost every emergency food parcel given out from our centres over the last six years has had a jar of their nut butter.  It’s a great food for our visitors – releasing energy slowly and keeping them fuller for longer.

“It’s rare to have support of this kind from a food producer and we’re so incredibly thankful. Pip and Nut have never asked for any publicity in return for these donations – they’ve just quietly kept on providing us with help, sending pallet loads of product.”

The partnership began in 2020 and, since then, Pip and Nut has run several initiatives, including their ‘You Give, We Give’ match donation scheme, a pledge to donate a jar to the food bank for every online order and a donation of 25p to the food bank for every sale of their Gingerbread Almond Butter.

Pip and Nut was founded in 2013 by keen runner Pip Murray, who was determined to create nut butter with no added palm oil or sugar. It’s now stocked at most leading supermarkets.  The company was also an official sponsor of this year’s Hackney Half.
