London on a shoestring

We’ve compiled the ultimate guide to experiencing London for free this Summer Holiday.

Desperate to prove you can have a blast in London with just a packed lunch and a bus card, the team at Hackney Foodbank have been researching the best free activities on offer.

Jenna Fansa, Head of Communications and Fundraising at Hackney Foodbank, said: “As a mum of two, I know what an effort it is to keep the children entertained in the long summer holidays – and how expensive it can be.  But there is so much to do this summer for free.

“We especially love the sound of swimming in the docks and visiting the pelicans in St James’ Park.   Hackney Council has lots on too, from holiday clubs to arts and crafts.”

Other activities include city farms, interactive fountains, film screenings and museums and galleries with special exhibitions for younger visitors.
